The Latakia Economic Forum
The Latakia Economic Forum is a non-governmental (currently in the registration stage), non-profit Institute, based in the city of Latakia, Syrian Arab Republic. It was founded to support and promote the economic role of Latakia Governorate in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Rooted in a city rich in history, home to ancient civilizations such as Ugarit, which introduced one of the world’s earliest known alphabets and contributed to the development of maritime trade. The Forum draws inspiration from Latakia’s cultural legacy to shape its economic future.
Despite the region’s wealth of natural and human resources, Latakia has faced serious economic challenges in recent years, including capital flight, the rise of informal economies, and the marginalization of qualified professionals. These conditions highlight the urgent need for a modern institution grounded in scientific, transparent, and accountable principles.
The forum seeks to propose innovative solutions and collaborate with various economic and social actors in the governorate.
The primary motivation is to create a supportive environment for sustainable economic growth, attract investments, and empower youth and entrepreneurs in alignment with national development priorities. The forum aims to serve as a reference center of expertise that promotes strategic thinking and provides in-depth insights that contribute to shaping local and national economic policies.
The Latakia Economic Forum aims to serve as a reference platform for constructive economic dialogue. It works to highlight local and regional investment opportunities, foster professional networks among economic actors, empower local talent, and contribute to the development of a thriving, sustainable business environment.
The Forum welcomes contributions from all individuals—regardless of gender, religion, political affiliation, or social background—provided they share its goals and adhere to its internal regulations. Our vision is to help reimagine Latakia as a promising economic hub in the Eastern Mediterranean.
